The Benefits of I.

Written by Joe Seversway.
it's a picture of a closeup of an eye.

So why do you need a guy like me to build your website rather than use one of the many website builders or (heaven forbid) one of those new AI website building tools? Well, while DIY website builders such as Wix and Squarespace can seem appealing to many and may please one’s wallet, a professionally built website should offer (and will offer if made by me, nudge, nudge) significant advantages that will elevate your online presence making you the talk of the town. So I thought I’d break it down here for you in a totally unbiased way (honest):

Expertise and Quality:

Not had to do any design work since GCSE art and design but willing to give it a go? Good luck to you! Although you will probably find it a lot harder ant time consuming than you remember. Professional web developers have the expertise to convert ideas into a practical and visually appealing (virtual?) reality! Not only that but getting someone that knows what they’re doing means that your site will be built with users in mind and optimised for search engines (SEO), so people will be able to find your site and navigate through it with ease, effectively converting interested parties into customers, wahey!

Customisation and Flexibility:

DIY website builders are limited to the options available so if you have a specific design in mind there’s a good chance the option just ain’t there. However a chap like me can tailor your website to your specific branding desires! This allows for bespoke features and functionalities not achievable with pre-designed blocky templates.

Time and Efficiency:

How long do you reckon it takes to build a website? How long if you haven’t done it before and are unfamiliar with the tools? Ages! And that’s ages you could and should be putting into the running of your actual business! You should probably get someone else to do it, eh?

Ongoing Support and Maintenance:

Oh no! Why isn’t that working? Welcome to website building! Although modern website builders have plenty of support it still takes time to get those pesky bugs fixed, more time you could be spending making money or playing Space Invaders! If only this was someone else’s problem.

Enhanced Brand Image:

Why doesn’t my website stand out? Why, after all the hours that I poured in, does it look exactly the same as so many others? Well that’s because lots of people have jumped on the ‘build your own’ bandwagon and have subsequently made vast swathes of the internet incredibly coplanar and dull. You can be different, you can be unique, you should hire a professional! If only we knew of one…

Improved User Experience:

Why is your site soooo slow? You’ve followed all the instructions and dragged and dropped your site into existence in a format that doesn’t look too bad but why all the Lag? In order to provide a vast selection of options to users DIY builders tend to rely on huge libraries of code which often gets bundled with your site, potentially damaging the loading time and turning budding customers off. Developer built sites can be honed into being lean mean loading machines, whooosh! Ever thought about accessibility or what are today’s best web practices? Most people don’t (including many who work in the sector, blimey), professional web dev’s do, meaning your website is easy to navigate and enjoyable to use by all, leading to increased engagement and conversions. In this day and age your website should also be responsive so that it displays well on any device. This can be a painstaking process if going it alone with the DIY platforms. You should probably get a developer to do it for you instead don’t you think?

In conclusion, while DIY website builders offer an affordable initial option, investing in a professionally built website is just better and probably more cost effective in the long run. So instead of tearing your hair out and yelling at a computer in your off time, you should probably leave that to someone who does it for a living! I like yelling at computers, let me at ‘em! Huzzah!
